Michiel de Lange

Michiel de Lange is an Associate Professor in New Media Studies at the Department of Media and Culture Studies, Utrecht University. His research specializes in (mobile) media technologies and urban culture. He is the co-founder of the [urban interfaces] research platform and chairs the Special Interest Group “Inclusion in the Datafied City” at Utrecht University. He has (co-)lead various funded research projects, including "Designing for Controversies in Responsible Smart Cities” (2019-2022) and “The Hackable City” (2014-2017). He is currently co-lead in the NWO-KEM funded project URRRRRban: Urban Resilience through Responsive, Relational, Representative and Responsible Policy-making.
