Gillian Sonnad
Gillian Sonnad is a PhD candidate in the Humanities at Utrecht University. Before joining UU, she was in legal and consulting practice for 10 years with a focus on civil liberties and race equity. Through her legal practice and consulting work, Gillian became interested in the many ways in which the law and the legal system affect the lives and bodies of marginalized people. Her work at UU is focused on using creative methodologies to unpack, explore, understand, and analyze how the embodiment of fat women of color is litigated in everyday life. She is particularly interested in the transformation of intersectional and marginalized bodies into legal materials in organizational contexts such as workplaces and health care systems.
